"人故不能離群, 但卻不可無獨處", this is a famous quote given by one of our outstanding college alumni to students, 龍應台. I always trying to figure out what did Mdm.Long was going to imply? Normally, most of the college students still embracing the kind of thought like "college students live to have fun". Then, it is the misconception caused the students nowadays to only consume their precious time on anything meaningless. What must a college student really did? This is one of the issue we should think over again. How to awaken our future leader has became a big task that should only permit to success!
At Taiwan, there is a so-called "strawberry" generation. What does it mean by the Strawberry generation? After investigation, strawberry generation is appointed to the offspring after 1980's. In other words, for those who was born after 1980's are considered as strawberry generation. Most of the elder generation have concluded some of the characteristics of strawberry age.
Firstly, the young generation are less able to withstand the hardships and easily gave up in most situations. This implies the nature of the strawberry for being easily broken of rotted by a light pinch. They easily give up themselves and escape from reality. Sometimes, they even choose commit suicide to run away from the real world. A little pinch can push them to the edge of survival.
Secondly, strawberry generation usually have low stability in their career performances. Young people are readily shaken by their emotional feelings. Emotional is ruling the major part than rationality mentally and even physically. Most of the time, their performances were rippled by emotion.
Thirdly, fancy appearance with brittle inside. Youngsters at this age usually well-educated but with empty potential. Due to the policy of general education flow, most of the young man are given opportunities to educate at high schools or even colleges. Well, it causes the overabundant of young college graduates that can be easily grabbed on the streets. As you might found that, the number of colleges and universities are folded over times in the past decade. What does this phenomena tell us? We should think over properly again.
Fourth, nowadays young people are showing high respect to materialism. They are always be prouded by owning a branded fashions, other products or even doing some "extraordinary" acts. They do anything to grantify themselves without careful thinking. In some situation, their "creative" may lead to criminals. These will have brought a lot of social problems to our society.
Fifth, it is the selfishness. Although it does not appoint to all the youngsters, but part of them are having serious attitude problem. From the elderly spoke, their own advantages always the top priority than others.
Apart from this, in some of the situation, elderly may also satire upon the young generation as Pudding or Tohu teenages.
Young people(including me), be strong~! not to let the elder look down upon us, we have our superiority and we will show them one day.
